Title: Building Little Pillars: Teaching the Foundations of the Christian Faith to Children Ages 3 to 6
Author: Heather Molendyk - PCA

The Apostles' Creed | PDF Download Edition

Like the wise man in Scripture, we want our children's spiritual foundations to run deep, providing stability and protection. With training to set their minds on God's truth and anchor them to resources that have strengthened the Church for centuries, our children can stand strong when their faith is tested by doubt and the storms of life.

For centuries, God’s people depended upon oral traditions and recitations to help make their faith personal and mobile. Thus, songs and stories and creeds were used to impart knowledge to the generations coming behind. Now, more than ever, it is important to teach covenant children to think upon what is true, honorable, just, and pure by hiding in their hearts the framework of faith.

Teach children not only to memorize the tenets of Christianity, but also to be able to express their Christian beliefs clearly and concisely, so they can “be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks [them] to give the reason for the hope [they] have” (1 Peter 3:15 NIV). This 18-lesson unit (plus introduction) teaches a new generation of young minds the sacred truths found in the Apostles’ Creed in a way that is fun and inviting. By concentrating on one phrase of the creed at a time, you will plant the seeds of faith in children’s hearts, so they may become deeply rooted in the truth of the gospel.

Use Building Little Pillars at church, school, home, or homeschool to strengthen children’s faith through the teaching of sound Reformed doctrines.
